Doshas are three fundamental energies that govern our body, mind, and overall well-being. You can think of them as a unique mind-body blueprint that plays a significant role in shaping how we function physically, mentally, and emotionally throughout all stages of our lives. These energies work together continuously to maintain health and balance within us.
ELEMENTS OF EACH DOSHA?

Air + Earth
PITTA
Fire + Water
KAPHA

WHAT ARE THE THREE DOSHAS?
Vatta is the energy ruled by air and space. People dominant with vatta tend to be creative and energetic, but when imbalanced, they can feel anxious, restless, and cold. Ayurveda recommends warm, grounding food to bring vatta back to centre.

Pitta is the energy ruled by fire and water. Pitta types tend to be driven, focused, but when imbalanced, they can feel impatient, angry, and overheated. Ayurveda recommends cooling and hydrating foods to calm the fire and restore balance.
— PITTA
Kapha is the energy ruled by earth and water. Kapha types tend to be calm and caring, but when imbalanced, they can feel heavy and sluggish. Ayurveda recommends warm and spicy foods to uplift and restore balance.

WHAT ARE THE PATHYA(FAVOURABLE) DIET RECOMMENDATIONS?
Foods that are warm, moist, grounding, and mildly spiced to calm Vata’s dryness.
VATTA
Stews, soups, porridges, root vegetables( pumpkin, sweet potato), and sweet fruits( mango, peaches ) help stabilize energy. Healthy fats like ghee, coconut oil, and olive oil help retain moisture. Herbal teas with warming spices like cinnamon, cumin, and cardamom are ideal.
Foods that are cooling, soothing, hydrating, and mildly sweet or bitter to calm Pitta’s heat.
Fruits, steamed vegetables, and cooling herbs like mint and coriander, along with mild grains( quinoa, oats), help avoid overheating. Soft dairy( fresh paneer, homemade yogurt), coconut water, and gentle spices like fennel or turmeric help balance acidity and have a cooling effect on digestive fire
PITTA
Foods that are light, warm, and easily digestible to uplift Kapha’s natural heaviness.
KAPHA
Warm soups, steamed or roasted vegetables ( pumpkin, squash), lean proteins, and astringent fruits( apples, pears, pomegranate) help avoid excess sluggishness. Herbal teas with warming spices( cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric) are highly recommended.
WHAT ARE THE APATHYA(UNFAVOURABLE) DIET RECOMMENDATIONS?
Foods that are cold, dry, and rough can aggravate Vata’s tendency towards dryness.
Avoid raw vegetables, cold salads, and dry grains ( buckwheat, millet, corn). Excessive beans, legumes, and chickpeas can increase gas and bloating. Cold smoothies and caffeine(coffee, energy drinks, green tea) make Vatta restless.
VATTA
Foods that are spicy, oily, and hot intensify Pitta’s heat.
Avoid chili peppers, hot spices, and fried and greasy foods since they increase internal heat and acidity. Refined grains(white flour, white rice), chickpeas, and black beans aggravate irritability. Fermented dairy ( yogurt, cheese) and sour fruits( oranges, pineapple) are not recommended.
PITTA
Foods that are oily, cold, and sweet worsen Kapha’s natural sluggishness.
Avoid dairy in excess ( cheese, yogurt, and ice cream). Fried foods and processed sugars increase heaviness. Heavy grains (wheat, rice), pasta, and bread made with refined flours slow down metabolism, making it difficult to digest. Overly starchy vegetables( potatoes, squash) and fruits(bananas, melons) increase heaviness and mucus.
